Welcome to Portland
Portland, Oregon rests in the shadow of beautiful snow-capped Mount Hood and along the Willamette River. It’s well known for eco-friendly living, hip microbreweries and coffeehouses, lots of beautiful natural spaces and its own unique quirkiness.
The city is largely driven by the manufacturing, machinery, aerospace, technology and medical sectors with major corporations including Intel and Nike calling Portland home.
Its serene green spaces and abundant natural attractions are highlighted by it’s jewel Washington Park which houses several additional attractions including an idyllic Japanese garden and zoo, and there are many outdoor spots to explore perfect for hiking, windsurfing and kayaking.
Portland’s infamous history, the supposedly haunted Shanghai Tunnels - a series of underground passages used to smuggle goods and other supposedly nefarious activities has been converted into a popular tourist attraction for those brave enough to learn more about the city’s ominous past.
While Oregon does not lay claim to any signature dishes, residents and visitors agree that some of the best local food is from the many street carts that pepper the city with all sorts of indulgent and delicious treats.
